Accessibility

Our commitment

We want everyone to be able to use the Stargazer Fellowship website, including people who use screen readers, a keyboard instead of a mouse, voice control, screen magnification or captions.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. WCAG is the most widely used standard for website accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

What we have done

• Text, links and buttons have strong color contrast.
• Every page can be used with a keyboard, and you can always see where you are on the page.
• Photos have text descriptions for screen readers.
• Forms have clear labels, and they tell you when something needs fixing.
• Pages work when zoomed in to 200% and on small phone screens.
• The Display options button (at the top and bottom of every page) lets you make text bigger, use an easy-to-read font, stop animations, underline links and add space between lines.
• Animations stop by themselves for people who ask their device to reduce motion.

What we are still working on

• Videos play from YouTube. YouTube has captions, but some videos may only have automatic captions.
• Maps come from Google Maps, which we do not control.
