Our Story

Fob's is a 70's-style family diner brought back to life in Crystal Falls, Michigan — the kind of place where the coffee's always on, the portions are honest, and the prices won't scare you off. Everything is made the way it ought to be: our soups come from Lucy & Shirley's own recipes, the broasted chicken is started from scratch, and dessert is baked fresh, daily.

Yes, it's named after a mushroom — and not just any mushroom. A mushroom growing up through a tree stump turned out to be just the tip of the iceberg. In 1988, in the forest near Crystal Falls, researchers found what was then the largest and oldest living organism on earth: a giant Armillaria fungus. We're talking 30+ acres at last measurement — pull the whole thing up and it'd weigh more than 100 tons. Our little corner of Michigan sits right on top of it. So naturally, we put it on a burger.
